Kateya Maggie Flett is Vuntut Gwich’in (Dene) from Old Crow, YK and belongs to the Wolf Clan.
She married the late George Flett, Jr from Opaskwayak Cree Nation (OCN) in 1960 and they moved their family to OCN in 1970 from Edmonton, AB. Kateya Maggie is a life long educator. She graduated with her BEd degree from Brandon University in 1979. At 86 years young she still works in the JoeARoss elementary school and is actively involved in teaching the 7 sacred teachings to students. She creates curriculum for the 7 teachings and marks corresponding work on the teachings.
